Dr. Sonita Claude-Simelus, DrPH, MD, MPH, CHES®

Founder & Principal Consultant

Dr. Simelus is an internationally trained physician and public health strategist with experience spanning clinical medicine, public health practice, program evaluation, community health assessment, and population health strategy.

Her background combines clinical training, advanced preparation in public health, and hands-on professional experience working with community-based organizations, public health programs, and nonprofit organizations. In prior professional roles, her experience has included statewide program evaluation, data collection and analysis, community and organizational assessment, stakeholder engagement, and translating findings into practical recommendations.

Her experience across different countries, health systems, and cultural contexts has shaped a culturally responsive and globally informed approach to public health practice. Dr. Simelus brings a systems perspective to complex public health challenges, considering not only programs and outcomes, but also the structures, relationships, environments, and lived experiences that shape them.

She holds a Doctor of Public Health, Doctor of Medicine, and Master of Public Health and is a Certified Health Education Specialist.

IPH Strategies grew out of Dr. Simelus’s international and cross-sector experience spanning clinical medicine, public health, program evaluation, and community-based work.

Across those settings, she repeatedly saw organizations with committed people, important data, and strong ideas that still needed support connecting those pieces into a clear path forward. She also saw how language, culture, access, community context, and system design can shape both health outcomes and the way organizations serve the populations they work with.

IPH Strategies was created to help bridge those gaps. The practice brings together systems thinking, evaluation, evidence, lived experience, and cultural context to help organizations better understand their challenges, strengthen their programs and strategies, and make practical decisions.

Dr. Simelus is multilingual and brings cross-cultural communication experience to her work.

Consulting conversations and selected services may be available in English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, and French.
